PT Datong Jaya Indonesia, ITB, and Tsinghua University Sign Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to Advance Thermal Power Innovation

Bandung, 14 November 2025PT Datong Jaya Indonesia (DJI), together with the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Institut Teknologi Bandung (FMAE-ITB) and the Department of Thermal Engineering at Tsinghua University (DTE-TUB), officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) during the 91st IEA Fluidized Bed Conversion (FBC) Meeting, held in Bandung on 14 November 2025. The international gathering brought together energy researchers, technology developers, and industry stakeholders, providing a platform to strengthen dialogue on clean energy transitions and advanced thermal power systems. The MoA signing was one of the main highlights of the event, signaling a deepened commitment by Indonesia and China to support advancements in energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies aligned with Indonesia’s net-zero emissions target for 2060.

Under the newly formalized agreement, the three Parties—represented by Prof. Dr. Hermawan Judawisastra (Dean of FMAE-ITB), Prof. Yang Hairui (Head of DTE-TUB), and Mr. Wan Ping (Director of PT Datong Jaya Indonesia)—outlined a comprehensive framework for collaboration in research, development, and academic activities. Central to the agreement is the establishment of the Thermal Power Innovation Consortium (TEPIC), a joint initiative designed to enhance cooperation on designated research subjects, facilitate cross-institutional academic exchanges, and strengthen collective efforts in the development of next-generation thermal power technologies.

The MoA further states that the collaboration will encompass various activities including joint studies, technology demonstrations, academic programs, conferences, short-term courses, webinars, and other knowledge-sharing initiatives. PT Datong Jaya Indonesia will play a crucial role by providing funding for the operational aspects of the research and innovation activities conducted by ITB and Tsinghua University. Meanwhile, intellectual property rights, research output ownership, and innovation deployment frameworks will be governed by separate agreements in line with institutional guidelines and national regulations. This approach ensures that the partnership remains mutually beneficial, transparent, and strategically aligned with each institution’s goals.

Reflecting on the importance of the agreement, PT Datong Jaya Indonesia’s Director, Mr. Wan Ping, shared: “The signing of this MoA reflects our continued commitment to supporting Indonesia’s transition toward cleaner and more efficient power generation. By collaborating with leading academic institutions such as ITB and Tsinghua University, we believe this partnership will contribute to meaningful innovations that support national and global sustainability goals.” His remarks underscore the company’s dedication to enabling a robust research ecosystem that connects academic excellence with industry-driven technology development.

Looking ahead, PT Datong Jaya Indonesia believes that this trilateral partnership will significantly enhance Indonesia’s capability to develop cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally responsible energy solutions. As the official representative office of Beijing Datong Longyuan Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the company sees this collaboration as a strategic step toward accelerating technological innovation and strengthening national research capacity in thermal power engineering. With the MoA now effective for a three-year period and open for renewal, the Parties are committed to ensuring steady progress and impactful results that contribute to Indonesia’s broader sustainability agenda. Through this strengthened cooperation, PT Datong Jaya Indonesia is confident that the joint initiative will play a vital role in shaping the future of sustainable thermal energy development in Indonesia and the region.
