Powering Progress for PLTU Efficiency: Datong Secures Dual MoUs with NP Services and NP Construction
Strengthening PLTU Technology Through Strategic Collaboration
PT Datong Jaya Indonesia reinforced its commitment to driving innovation in Indonesia’s power generation sector by signing two important Memorandums of Understanding during Electricity Connect 2025, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). The first agreement was formalized with PLN Nusantara Power Services (NPS) on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, establishing a cooperation framework focused on investment initiatives for coal dryer solutions across PLTU facilities under PLN NP. This collaboration is aimed at supporting operational improvements through better fuel preparation and moisture control, helping power plants achieve higher combustion efficiency and improved reliability.
Two days later, on Friday, 21 November 2025, Datong entered another strategic partnership by signing an MoU with PLN Nusantara Power Construction (NPC). This MoU outlines a joint effort to develop coal shelter technology utilizing Air Dome structures and other related technologies. The NPC MoU, as detailed in the official document, highlights a coordinated approach where both parties will share technical and commercial information, ensure data accuracy, and collaborate to prepare proposals for upcoming project tenders. Together, these agreements create a unified pathway for enhancing overall PLTU performance—both in coal storage management and fuel processing.
Datong’s Active Role and Forward Implementation Strategy
As part of both partnerships, Datong will contribute by delivering essential technical and commercial data, forming joint working groups, and ensuring effective coordination with each PLN subsidiary. Datong will assign competent personnel, conduct site assessments, and participate in engineering evaluations to align proposed solutions with each PLTU’s operational conditions. For the Airdome initiative with NPC, Datong will help refine technology specifications, review structural requirements, and develop a clear implementation roadmap that meets project needs.
For the coal dryer collaboration with NPS, Datong will evaluate equipment suitability, analyze moisture-reduction targets, and support investment planning to ensure the technology is effectively integrated into existing PLTU infrastructure. Additionally, Datong will participate in preparing project proposals and tender documents to support PLN Group’s selection processes. All activities will be carried out in accordance with Good Corporate Governance principles, as emphasized in the NPC MoU, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and clean procedures throughout the partnership.
Aiming for Improved Reliability, Efficiency, and Energy Sustainability
These dual MoUs are expected to deliver meaningful long-term impacts on Indonesia’s power plant operations. The Airdome-based coal shelter technology developed with NPC is designed to reduce material loss, protect fuel quality from weather exposure, improve coal handling efficiency, and create a cleaner, more controlled storage environment. This supports more reliable plant operations and reduces fuel degradation issues that often affect PLTU performance.
Meanwhile, the coal dryer investment initiative with NPS is projected to reduce the moisture content of coal prior to combustion, resulting in higher heat value, reduced fuel consumption, and more stable boiler performance. These improvements directly contribute to operational cost savings, enhanced energy output, and reduced emissions—supporting national energy resilience goals and aligning with broader efficiency mandates across PLN NP’s power plant portfolio.
Through these collaborations, Datong Jaya Indonesia strengthens its position as a trusted technology partner, driving forward innovation, sustainability, and improved performance across Indonesia’s electricity generation landscape.
