PLN EPI, Datong Jaya Indonesia, and LAPI ITB Committed to Push Forward Biomass Co-Firing for Indonesia Net Zero 2060.

PT Datong Jaya Indonesia, with PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) and LAPI ITB, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation of biomass production and utilization. This strategic partnership aligns with Datong Jaya Indonesia’s vision to actively participate in climate change action. As stipulated in the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also contributing to Indonesia’s target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060.

For PLN EPI, whose role is to ensure energy supply for power plants across Indonesia, this vision is highly relevant. The transition from coal to more sustainable sources such as biomass is a crucial step toward decarbonization. By collaborating with Datong Jaya Indonesia and LAPI ITB, PLN EPI aims to enhance its renewable energy portfolio while ensuring reliability and efficiency in power generation.

One of the key components of this MoU is the introduction of pre-treated biomass technology developed by Datong Jaya Indonesia. This innovative technology will significantly improve the quality and value of biomass, enabling it to meet the strict operational standards required by power plants (PLTU).

Previously, PLN EPI was limited to using only five types of biomasses as feedstock. With this technology, the range of viable biomass sources can be expanded, ensuring a more diverse and sustainable supply chain. Furthermore, the enhanced biomass will not only increase energy production capacity but also provide an efficient, environmentally friendly alternative to coal. This shift marks an important milestone in Indonesia’s energy transition, reducing dependency on fossil fuels while promoting renewable solutions.

The signing of this MoU is more than just a formal agreement—it represents a long-term commitment to sustainable energy transformation in Indonesia. Through the synergy of technological innovation from PT Datong Jaya Indonesia, operational strength of PLN EPI, and academic expertise of LAPI ITB, collaboration is expected to generate impactful results for the nation’s energy sector.

With shared vision and goals, this partnership is anticipated to pave the way for cleaner, more efficient power generation while supporting Indonesia’s journey toward achieving zero emissions by 2060. The hope is that this cooperation will continue to grow stronger, setting an example for future collaborations in renewable energy development.
