Strengthening Coal Mill Reliability: UBP Suralaya Conducts Benchmark Visit to PLTU Tanjung Awar-Awar with Datong Jaya Indonesia
A benchmark visit by PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Suralaya to PLTU Tanjung Awar-Awar was held on 26–28 November 2025 as part of an essential technical study to strengthen operational readiness for the planned Coal Mill Upgrade Project at Suralaya Units 5–7. The agenda was designed to provide firsthand insights into the performance of coal mill technology similar to what will be implemented at PLTU Suralaya, particularly for Unit 7CE. During the two-day technical engagement, the visiting team conducted direct observations, discussed operational parameters, and reviewed best practices related to equipment reliability, maintenance strategies, and efficiency optimization. This benchmark activity served as an important knowledge exchange platform, enabling UBP Suralaya’s engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to gain a more comprehensive technical perspective before the project enters a critical execution phase.
The benchmark was initiated following the signing of Agreement No. 0854.Pj/DAN.01.03/PLNIP011002/2025 dated 26 August 2025, under which PT Datong Jaya Indonesia is the appointed supplier for the Coal Mill products that will be installed at PLTU Suralaya Unit 7CE. As the technology provider in this procurement, Datong played a central role in ensuring that UBP Suralaya could observe real-world operations of coal mill units of similar type and specification at PLTU Tanjung Awar-Awar. This visit provided valuable clarity for PLN’s technical team regarding equipment performance, compatibility with operational demands, and long-term maintainability. Through direct exposure to operational conditions and in-depth technical discussions, PLN engineers were able to validate design expectations, understand applied maintenance methodologies, and examine optimization outputs that will guide the Coal Mill Upgrade Project at Suralaya. The agenda reinforced the strategic alignment between Datong’s supplied technology and PLN’s objectives in enhancing plant efficiency and reliability.
For Datong Jaya Indonesia, this benchmark represents more than a technical visit—it demonstrates the company’s commitment to transparent, data-driven collaboration with PLN in every stage of the Coal Mill Upgrade Project. By enabling PLN’s technical team to evaluate reference units in an operational setting, Datong ensures that the forthcoming installation at Suralaya is supported by validated insight and informed decision-making. Moving forward, Datong remains focused on delivering high-quality equipment, comprehensive technical support, and continuous engagement to ensure the successful commissioning and long-term performance of the coal mill units. This benchmark also strengthens the partnership foundation between Datong and PLN, paving the way for smoother project execution and contributing to Indonesia’s broader pursuit of reliable, efficient, and sustainable power generation infrastructure. Through consistent collaboration and technology-driven solutions, Datong is committed to supporting PLN’s operational excellence goals and future development initiatives.
